The Wildlife Retreat at Taronga offers Animal View Rooms with koalas outside the window, Bushland View Rooms overlooking kangaroos, and Harbour View Suites with views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Four accessible rooms are designed for wheelchair access. The rooms feature eco-conscious design using cross-laminated timber and provide views of the bushland, the animal sanctuary, or Sydney Harbour.

Dining

Guests can dine at the award-winning Me-Gal restaurant, which offers breakfast and dinner with views of Sydney Harbour and the wildlife sanctuary. The seasonally-modified menu uses local and fresh produce, with an emphasis on native Australian ingredients. The N'Gurra Lounge provides an outdoor terrace with city and harbour views, serving light meals and drinks.

Wildlife Experiences

The package includes complimentary two-day access to Taronga Zoo and guided wildlife tours, including a sanctuary tour of the on-site animal habitat and an evening tour of the zoo after hours. The nightly zoo tour lets guests see animals without crowds. The on-site wildlife sanctuary is visible from guest rooms and features koalas, wallabies, echidnas, and birds.

Location & Access

The retreat is located inside Taronga Zoo on Sydney Harbour, 4.2 km from Circular Quay and 18 km from Kingsford Smith Airport. Complimentary guest parking is available in the main Visitor Carpark, and there is an electric vehicle charging station. A ferry from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo takes about 25 minutes.

Conservation & Sustainability

Taronga Zoo is a not-for-profit organization, and all revenue from the Wildlife Retreat goes toward Taronga's wildlife conservation programs. The property is built with sustainable architecture including cross-laminated timber and was designed with environmental conservation at its core. Guests can see the conservation work in action through the on-site sanctuary and zoo tours.
